Arrowwood Project ~ Before and After
The Arrowwood Project is a home transformation for a merged family of 7. Missy and Jason married in early 2016, each brought 2 school aged kids with them. They also welcomed one furry baby together.
This home was purchased by Jason with the idea that one day, he would remarry and they would decorate together.
As you can see, the entry had huge potential but was clearly stuck in a “90s builder-basic realm”. A custom molding design for the walls, paint and a new light fixture did the trick. It is now the “WOW moment” Missy was dreaming of.
The formal dining room adjacent to the entry was bland and boring. More custom moldings – this time on the ceiling. fantastic textured wallpaper and the light fixture Missy has been coveting for years were added. We finished it off with simple drapery panels and new chairs with a fun patterned upholstery.
Our initial plan had the kitchen on the back-burner for budget reasons. It was quickly pushed to a priority once the rest of the space started to come together. Although we didn’t fully redo the space, new countertops, backsplash, hardware and flooring did elevate the experience. We also opted to paint the existing cabinets two colors. With the white on top to brighten the entire space and blend with the unwanted soffit space.
This large and busy family needed a more functioning “desk”. We also wanted it to be beautiful. After removing the matching cabinets, soffit and discovered plumbing in the ceiling, we found a great pre-made furniture piece that offered substantial storage and display area.
“I want a big mantel for Christmas and more functional shelving to display things!” Missy knew from our first visit that her current fireplace wall was not working for her dream holiday. New features include a wall to wall quartz hearth bench, reclaimed barn wood mantle, slate mosaic and custom shelving. I think she is more then happy with the result.
The formal living room off the entry lacked luster. A new lounging chaise at the front window, simple draperies, wall moldings and a new rug were installed to compliment a few pieces that we reused from other areas.
One last space that was redone on the main level was the powder room off of the garage. As it is the only bathroom on this floor, it is used by guests and family. The flooring tiles from the kitchen were extended, cabinet was painted and new Vicostone quartz tops were installed. Paint, a new mirror and accessories were also added.
This house is now a home for the new family. We are thrilled to be a part of their everyday lives!
